Gary Plauche’s man flies every Father’s Daywhich resonates with today’s audience. It’s one of the few crimes caught on video, but it seems the public is rooting for the suspect, not the victim.
Plauché’s story has been covered in many films, TV shows, and is the subject of the 2019 book \”Why, Gary, Why?\”: The Jody Plauché Story.”
The 2019 book was written by Gary’s son. Jody, who is also chapter in this story. We won’t write a mystery about the details of the crime against Jody Plauché, but if you want the history, it’s covered here.
The main point of the story is that local karate instructor and Plauché family friend Jeffrey Doucet kidnapped Jody Plauché in February 1984.
Doucet was Jody’s former karate instructor and has been close to the family for over a year.
By this time, Doucet had begun sexually assaulting Jody. At this time, Gary Plauché learned how much Doucet was harassing his son. Filled with grief and anger, Plauche devised a plan to take revenge on Doucet.
Plauché knew when Doucet would be sent back to Baton Rouge. He decided it was time to act.
After Plauché’s arrest, Plauché was charged with second-degree murder, but the charge was later dismissed for first-degree murder.
Plauché pleaded “not guilty” to the charge and was given a seven-year suspended sentence, five years’ probation and 300 hours of community service.
