In Forest’s first game of the season against Bournemouth, Danilo headed into midfield but was seriously injured when he arrived.
The Brazilian was quickly treated by hospital staff, while the injury was hidden from the crowd at the City Ground with a wild flag before he was stretchered off.
The 23-year-old joined the club in January 2023 and made 43 league appearances in total, although his season may be over.
He has not had a serious injury in his career, which could force Forest into the transfer market.
