In her first dive during the preliminaries of the Olympic women’s 3m diving competition, her leg hit the dock while in a tense position.
After loud noises and cries of surprise from the audience, Gibson fell fearlessly into the water, making a noise and not landing on his head.
Her water was controlled so he wouldn’t fall and he got zero marks. Gibson continued, however, and finished his last four swims as calmly as he could, but he still finished last, marking the end of his Olympic journey.
“I hit my heel and my foot on the board,” Gibson told reporters at the end of the tournament. “I broke my side and injured my right heel, but I decided to continue.
