CHARLOTT, NC (WBTV) — A local family is mourning the loss of their daughter just weeks after she returned from a trip to Mexico.
Parents Bernard and Salamondra Robinson said Shankwella Robinson, 25, left Charlotte for a trip to Cabo, Mexico with a group of friends on October 1. 28.

Because he died in Mexico, national agencies stepped in and publicized what happened. In response to the girl’s death, the US State Department released the following statement: “We are aware of this information.
Protecting the interests of American citizens abroad is one of our highest priorities. Out of respect for member privacy, we have no comment at this time.
Robinson’s body was returned to Charlotte on Thursday, where the funeral will be held for the following Saturday. “All I did was cry and try to figure out what happened,”
his father said. “I can’t be a grandfather, I can’t meet him on the street, he’s gone.” The family contacted the FBI office in Charlotte to help solve the mystery of Shankwella’s death.
They also said that a private investigator can be hired if the answer is unclear.
