Scott appeared in a 2020 video produced by United to commemorate Transgender Awareness Day. Transgender Day is celebrated every year on March 31.
Police in Denver, where Scott lived, are still investigating his death and are awaiting the state medical examiner’s report.
Before his death, Scott posted a message on Facebook and his Instagram account, asking for forgiveness for “everyone [who] left him”.
He closed his message by writing: “Don’t be angry. Please remember me for the good memories we shared, and never for my failures. I’ll see you all on the other side.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help pay for the funeral and any other unexpected expenses for Scott’s family.

Any remaining funds will be divided and donated to the Trevor Project and the Pride Center of Vermont, according to the campaign.
The media quoted her sister Ashley Scott as saying, “Kayleigh is the light in our lives. His selflessness shows in every opinion his friends and colleagues share with us.”
